Signing up for original Medicare Parts A and B

Medicare part A and B are known as Original Medicare and issued by the government. Part A is your hospital coverage and Part B is your medical Coverage.
If you or your spouse paid FICA taxes for 10 years (40 quarters), your part A premium should be $0. Most beneficiaries pay a monthly premium for part B but some individuals may pay as low as $0 depending on income.
I help guide beneficiaries with the enrollment process in a timely manner and help avoid late enrollment penalties. Sometimes you may find that signing up for Medicare may not be the best option for you if you continue to work and need the health insurance through your employer for your younger spouse or children.
I also assist clients in applying for programs that may lower or reduce their part B premium, medical copays, prescription drug costs, and medical coinsurances when applicable. Again, this service is at no cost to you!

Additional Coverage Options:
Supplemental Insurance & Prescription Drug Plan

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) were never designed to be full medical Coverage. Original Medicare does not include prescription drug coverage. It also does not include additional ancillary benefits. You are also responsible for roughly 20% of all of your healthcare costs with no Maximum out of pocket.
Private insurance companies offer Supplements to original Medicare also known as Medigap plans (Medicare supplements). For an additional premium, you may reduce your copays, deductibles, and any other health care costs covered by Medicare to very little out of pocket.
A prescription drug plan may decrease prescription drug costs dramatically. It is recommended to purchase a Part D prescription drug plan even if you do not take prescriptions. Your doctor may prescribe a vital yet expensive drug that has no manufacturer discounts.

Additional Coverage Options- Medicare Advantage Plans (Managed care or Part C)

There are also other Medicare options you can add called Advantage plans. These plans are similar to what we are used to with our employer coverage such as an HMO or PPO insurance model that have copays, coinsurances, maximum out of pockets, and deductibles.
Some of these plans have Ancillary benefits. Many of these plans also include prescription drug coverage.
My job is to help make sure your doctors are in network and that your medications are in the plan’s formulary. The wrong decision may cost you financially.
There are many of these plan options available in CT. I will research the plans in order to find an option that fits both your needs and preferences.
